I was a student at Bunnell since kindergarten, and now I'm gone. I miss it so much!!!! All my teachers saw I was gifted, even in kindergarten, and I recieved the quality education I needed with the best gifted teachers in the world since third grade. This school is FANTASTIC!!!!!!!

J: I teach at Bunnell Elementary School. Thank you for all your positive comments. We often get jaded by those who don't take the time to look into the quality education that we provide. Of course safety is a number 1 priority. How much can you concentrate on learning if you have to watch out for your personal safety? I'm sure those of you who took a first hand look saw happy children who were being challendged to extend their education. As with any school, nothing is 100%. However, we are always striving to reach 100%.
As a parent who lives in another county. I have chosen to have my child come to Bunnell. I know that a qualitiy education is availabel for my child. If I, as a parent have taught my child eagerness to learn and do what I need to do as a parent, my child will exceed my expectations at this school. Did anyone notice we offer gifted education as well? Education is multifaceted. As long as chaos doesn't rule in a classroom, (and it doesn't at Bunnell since those teachers are let go fast- within weeks at times) your child will receive a high quality education. You as the parent need to support your child in this endeaveor by having homework completed. shutting the TV now and then and reading a good book or two. Continue to provide the love and care and follow the instructional lead of a teacher. Success will be just around the corner.

Please realize that all schools in Flagler County require appointments....otherwise we would have anyone and everyone walking around during school areas. Bunnell happens to be the most accomodating place I have witnessed. Please make your own educated decisions on your children's education.

D: I will have lived here in Palm Coast for 2 years this coming June and let me just say that when I found out that my kids HAD to go to school in Bunnell even though we are Palm Coast residents I was pretty angry.
Needless to say my husband and I were curious about this. We moved here from Boston and back there we were "school zoned" but there was NO way we went to a different school than the city/town you LIVE in.
I admit that every time I told anyone local that my kids were "zoned" for Bunnell I got mixed reactions......some good...most...not so good.
I was warned that it was in a very bad section of Bunnell and that the school was full of "discipline cases." Naturally this worried me. I did my research and after the first day of school for my 9yr old daughter(she's now 10)...She came home soo excited because she LOVED her new school.
Just to clarify the reasons on why the comment above.......I wonder if you know that all the car rider numbers and the "iron gate" you talk about is there for YOUR CHILDS safety!!!
I agree that there should be tight security for these younger children....Do you really want just ANYONE walking around the school grounds?? Do you remember Columbine? Oh and believe me it CAN happen(they just arrested a little boy for bringing a knife to school because he was planning on stabbing a boy that had hurt him. So yes...it definitely can happen.
As for as the "assigned numbers"...have you seen the parking spots?? There are NONE.....and I it MUCH safer staying in your car until your child comes to the car......they ask the kids if they know who the person is picking them up.... DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY ELEMENTARY AGE STUDENTS GET KIDNAPPED FROM SCHOOL? Where we come from the bell rang and all the kids came out at once....TRUST ME, it's ridiculous....some days I could now find her that fast because the come out like herds of elephants and scatter like birds. You had to be there at LEAST 1 hour early if you wanted to be in front of the door of the school.
BOTTOM LINE....I find it pretty pathetic that for some one who has NEVER had a child in this school can be totally so "ignorant" My daughter is 10 now and is in the 4th grade...she has been on the Honor Role every single semester that she has been there. She always was in Chorus and she has been in 2 plays. The school inside is brand new and beautiful and clean. They have very acomadating teachers and staff I have never encounters with any one that was rude or mean at Bunnell.
I'm glad (and so are my children) that I didn't listen to wht "other" people said.

What is that? I am glad people can't go wondering around the school anytime they please. I for one like the school & have had great experiences with the princable & staff.

Belle Williams: Run! Run as fast as you can from this school, especially if you are Black! Although the Black student enrollment is 27%, I'm still looking for ONE Black teacher on staff. Absolutely no role models for them...didn't know this was still legal in 2008-09. Where is the local NAACP and why don't the Black parents complain???
Bunnell Elementary school is ran like a private school where an "Apointment" was required to enroll my child. It's easier to visit the President at the Whitehouse than it is to visit your child's teacher. Your child is assigned a NUMBER which is required when you drop off and pick up, parents are not welcome past the iron fence. The "Warden" (disguised as the Office Secretary) makes sure of this!
All the assignments and progress reports are so computerized that your child is programmed to fail! I donot recommend this crowded school to anyone!
