Kentwood Preparatory School Reviews
THIS SCHOOL IS TERRIBLE TEACHERS ARE PHYSICALLY ABUSIVE TOWARDS STUDENTS, ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS MAKING MONEY IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING SENDING YOURE CHILDREN TO THIS SCHOOL IT WOULD BE THE WORST MISTAKE OF YOURE LIFE..........
My son attended numerous schools due to ADHD and auditory processing disorder. Desperate to find solutions to long standing issues I enrolled my son here. They were very positive and encouraging and I was hopeful that he would be dealt with in a firm consistent manner. While he was treated respectfully by the teachers the owners humiliated him frequently in front of all the other students. He came home in tears daily. He was held till evening in detention almost daily (I was billed for this).I was instructed to send him to the Sheriffs boot camp at one point and to put him alone at the age of 12 on the train alone to go from Miami Beach to their Lantana campus.I believe in tough love- not of this variety. Upon consultation with a new psychiatrist ( who coincidentally had a nephew who had been a student there for a short time) I was told to get him out of there immediately. His confidence and self esteem was destroyed in les than the year he spent there by the emotional bullying mostly of the owners. Sometimes as parents longing to help our children we make poor decisions. We do the wrong things for the right reasons.
Additionally, 5 years later, out of the blue, I was sued by the owners and pay for a semester of school for which he had only attended a few days.
Kentwood Prep is a horrible school. I don't blame their focus on behavior, but there is no learning at this school. I was the first high school graduate at Kentwood. I have to say I am learning more in college than I did in 3 years at Kentwood. I am on the autism spectrum, high functioning. There are many students at this school who really are challenging to be around. There are so many behavior issues the teachers can hardly teach because they have to stop what they are doing and constantly work with that child.
The pressure of FCAT was too much for my child and the constant drama with school bullies.
Kentwood has done wonders at building back my son's confidence, organizational skills, and just wanting to participate in school activities again. Kentwood's friendly staff truly cares for the well being of the students.
I love the the curriculum and the different teaching tecniques they use to with my son.
Kentwood Preparatory School is a blessing for my son and family. It has truly helped him.
