Deltona High School Reviews
You either have a close connection with a teacher or they don't care about you. Some of the teaches talk to you like you're stupid when you ask a question they find obvious.
Has the school nurse reviewed the American Nurses Association guidelines for protocul in a difficulty breathing situation? Lock the door? The school stands by the nurses decision (according to the news story by Isa-Lee Wolf on yahoo news); This is wrong ; At the very least if the nurse wouldnt give the student his inhaler because of a signature, the nurse should have called 911 and got the ambulance paremedic to give it, or gotten permission from the ED medical control, depending on the regulations.
If the nurse was worried about the student faking an asthma attack, the nurse should be competent enough to use basic nursing skills such as assessing the student's breathing, including lung sounds, respitory rate and depth, heart rate, audible wheezing, shortness of breath, etc, to discern whether his vital signs were normal, and if he was in true distress; Or is this not in the Florida nursing licensure exam? Is the school nurse an RN, LPN, CNA? And if the nurse wasn't competent enough to do this, the nurse should have called 911 to get someone who could.
Further...the news story stated that this student was still sitting in the nurses office, "His mother found him there, against a wall, unable to breathe, the nurse looking at him" (http://news.yahoo.com/school-nurse-denies-inhaler-watches-student-lose-consciousness-183100040.html by Isa-Lee Wolf, as read on yahoo news 5/24/2012) The parent was obviously called to come to the school for her son; why didn't the school nurse get her permission over the phone?
Wouldn't this be considered gross negligence and incompetence? What about the Hippocratic "Do no harm"?

I use to go to deltona high I nevered liked it the teachers really didn't care about the students.
