This is an awesome school. Don't listen to anything that the second review said. I do agree, if you go to this school they have brilliant teachers and awesome academics. All the teacher care about your health and safety. The principal is strict but it helps kids do their absolute best. This school provides all children with a desk a chair even if you are in elementary school. Let's rap this up: Academy for Positive Learning is a FABULOUS school.

AFPL is a wonderful school maria is right about everything she said, ms.e does in fact act as a second mom to most of the students and becomes like family over time, the school has been recently moving to another building and i specifically remember that there are many chairs and desks for every single class in that school, each student does get their own desk to do their work, also they don't charge any money from what i know you just have to volunteer 40 hours to the school a year and they do have certain clothes that they need to buy, specifically because they don't want anyone feel bad if they can't buy the top name brand clothes, shoes etc., my point being that for a charter school that doesn't charge parents fees, and they give these kids a good education not to mention awesome field trips, it is overall a wonderful school to go to

My child went to AFPL for one year and that was enough for us to see that although the academics are set at a high standard, the happiness of the students is the last priority. If your child likes being talked down to and you as a parent like to be pushed around mentally by Ms. Espinosa then this might be your school. The school prides it's self on being a Title 1 school but then expects the low income parents of the children to buy excessive amounts of supplies and pay twice the price for school clothing just to have them embroidered with AFPL logo. Don't expect your child to be provided a desk to do their work on beacause it won't happen. In the elementary classes the childeren have to do all work on the floor in tiny class rooms. If you have other options I would recomend expolring them completely before choosing this school.
