South McKeel Elementary Academy
I attended the spring concert held at Victory church two nights ago and was struck immediately by the lack of minorities in this school. I see the statistics on this web site which show in 2009 72% Caucasian enrollment, and only 12% Black, less than that Hispanic and Asian. What a shame! These (Caucasian) children are missing so many life-long learning opportunities to interact and engage with other cultures in a wholesome environment. The impression I got from the parents and children I observed at Victory was that this is a room full of little rich kids whose parents don't want them in traditional public schools and don't want to pay for private school. I think the state could and SHOULD do a better job of monitoring the ethnic breakdown of the school population. I personally would not send my child to South McKeel. We have enough prima donnas already without molding another generation of children into the same. Love your children enough to let them experience the real world now (which, by the way is NOT 72% Caucasian!) so they don't have such a hard time adjusting when they are thrown into it as adults.
