Westwood Christian School Reviews
Waste of time
This school is a waste of time. People should be able to separate academics from religion but the inly focus in Westwood is christianity. Both my daughters are behind to their friends who go to Gulliver and Riviera. I have done a bad decision
Dont expect this school to be centered…
Dont expect this school to be centered around academics. Bible class is one of the main classes along with chapel for two hours. The school puts focus on preaching and becoming one than learning. My daughter went home crying to me explaining that because we listen to music on the radio and believe in scientific discoveries that we were basically condemned because its worldly. Give me a break. Oh! also try explaining to your 7 year old son that animals have no souls and Cyrus wont be in heaven with him. Its really sad how close minded and harsh the teachers and staff could be. I took my daughter out first because she had been there for years and for 11th grade she wanted to go to public school. Not only did we find out that because of Westwood she was behind in math, all those bible classes did not count as credits and she had no real science class credits. She had to go to summer school, despite the fact she had straight A's in Westwood. I took my son out immediately after and honestly I was so glad I made the choice and took the kids out. Parents please be warned! I love Christ my savior but not even he would want my children here.
My child attends this school and she loves it. The teachers are great. There's a lot of parent involvement. I am really happy that I chose this school.
This school honestly was the worst experience in my life. I attended my entire high school, from 9th through 12th grade. Usually everyone talks about how great their high school experience was; I wish I could say the same. Now that I am older, I realize how terrible WCS was.
To begin with, WCS tries to seclude you from the world and only emphasize on religion. I am all for Religion and teaching students the way of God, however, reality is that the outside world does not consist of that. In a work environment its survival of fittest. Our society is no where near God or any Christian morals. During my years at WCS did they ever teach how to interview for jobs, resume writing or any job skills.
My senior year at WCS was terrible. The way I was treated and talked to was like If I were an animal. They involved themselves in our personal weekend life. They preach on how they want to help others and bring lost people to God, that is false. They only want to help those who are convenient to them. Just like any other weekend and any other senior would do, we went to a weekend party and we had a couple of drinks. I understand it is something thats wrong but it is what EVERY senior does. They brought us in to question and interrogate us. After several meetings, they decided to kick me out of the school. When some of the students that had done the same exact thing but their parents were employed by the school, they were not expelled. First of all, my weekend activities have nothing at all to do with my academics. The way the faculty talked to me as I were a murderer was not right at all. I was told I was a failure. I was screamed at and felt like I was about to be given corporal punishment from them. Instead of counseling me on the bad it was they expelled me with about 5 months left in my senior year. However, other students had done the same exact thing, attended the same party and did the same exact thing were not expelled but I was expelled. I was told that I was an alcoholic and would never prosper. That does not seem very christian like. I am now a college graduate with an excellent career path ahead of me. I went to a public school and noticed how the real world is what WCS wanted to keep me from.
Never at WCS did we have a career day or other outside colleges came. They only brought Christian colleges and only Christian career paths.
The truth of the manner was that my parents did not put me in WCS to supervise my weekends, they put me in WCS to get a better education, what every parent wants. How they abandoned me and expelled me for something any senior would do in Miami is ridiculous. But when a teacher does something internally that is terrible they keep it among themselves.
I thank WCS for the discrimination they did and opportunity to experience the real world.
My child has excelled academically with the guidance from expert teachers. He has developed great socialization skills and most importantly, he has learned about God and his word. The staff is caring, compassionate, and exemplify professionalism at all times toward students and parents. I am proud to say that my child attends Westwood Christian School!
My child attends this school and I'm so glad I made the decision of choosing this school. The teachers are great and there's a great christian environment. The parents involvement is great and all the staff is really caring. My daughter loves this school.
Westwood Christian is an excellent school and we are so glad that we made the decision to put our children within a Christian environment. Not only are they receiving a top notch education with professors that really truly care, but they are learning to establish themselves on the foundation of God's word. The facilities are top notch, about 20 acres in Horse Country, a multi-million dollar facility that has been recently renovated. The Fine Arts Music Program is incredible, and sports offered as well. Just a fantastic well-rounded school. And now there is a PTO with much more parent involvement which has been refreshing as well. I would not have my children anywhere else in all of Miami!
