Samantha: Now, now...

Not all the students at A.V. Clubbs are bad kids. That's what people tend to think when they think of an "Alternative School," but my friend attends A.V. Clubbs, and he carried a pocketknife to school. He didn't pull it on anyone or anything, he was just caught with it. I must say that he is a wonderful friend, he's academically gifted and used to attend the PATS Center, he does well in school, and everything. So A.V. Clubbs is not a school for bad kids. Not at all. There are some very friendly people there who are dedicated to academics, just like there are at other schools. Although A.V. Clubbs probably does have quite a few students who try hard to learn and actually care about their education. My friend messed up. That's it. Once more, he's not a bad kid AT ALL.

Thank you for reading. I'm very sorry about what happened to my friend, and I'm sure he's doing his very best.

i went there and the only reason everyone is outside is because they have to have all classes in separate locations in order to prevent fights

Considering the kids are expelled from other schools
and have social issues, sports are a great to teach
SPORTSMANShip and social behaviours.
Unfortunetly these kids miss a lot of classroom time
due to counseling, and courtroom type appearances.
They also come into the school with poor reading
and math skills,  and may only be here a short while.
What's the answer to improving the FCAT scores?
I'm not sure.    Helping a 7th grader read at a 6th or 7th grade level that started the year out reading on a 4th graders level, should be measured differently. ?  Should keeping kids in school rather than on the streets be counted?  Or maybe helping the kids move on to a more useful life, rather than a life of crime is an A+  rating in itself!   No I'm not a teacher, or parent in AV Clubbs.   But recently I observed the enthusiasm of staff and teachers at AV Clubbs.  I did notice one teacher seemingly not
enjoying herself.  Perhaps due to lack of support and
appreciation for what she is doing every day!   I think it's time for  the community STEP up annd support them!

Rude students to deal with and the teachers really do act like they do not care. I feel as every time I drive by this school they are only outside playing basketball or fighting. I wonder what they are learning? The students are ALWAYS outside and always seem to be doing nothing to further the education. Its as if they teach them to play sports instead of learn. Isn't this a school for children with alternative problems and shouldn't they not be allowed that much free time if they are already having problems in school? No wonder they aren't a top ranked school for their type. They NEED to step up!
