Symmes Elementary School Reviews
Must have a perfect non-learining impaired child
I am very upset by this school, the administration, and the teachers (for K anyway). I am Hispanic and the treatment from admin and teachers is down right awful. It is very obvious that they are not used to having non-white families with an education that are not poor. My son was singled out made to sit by himself and refused snack and when I complained about it to the guidance counselor, whom is a very nice sweet person, he got a snack for the very first time in two months on that same day! ..but the admin and teachers insist its just a coincidence. Admin went on to try to tell me how my son "thinks things are happening" because he has ADHD and so does her daughter... my husband is an engineer and a college professor that grew up with ADHD we know ADHD very well!!! The response from the administration was to create excuses for the teachers saying my son lied even though the teachers confirmed what they had done. Communication is ridiculous I had to request a parent teacher conference because I would write questions to the teachers in my sons agenda only to not have the agenda come back home for days. I've had no positive outcome only that I'm left missing Alafia elementary.
Very good school. Satisfied with the teachers and administration. Would like to see more communication between teacher & parent though
The teachers are very good and I really think Ms. Ippolito is making some positive changes in the school. PTA is active and provides many opportunities to get involved. This school would have received a 5 from me except for the front office staff; they are not very friendly and seem to want to huddle together to whisper instead of helping.
