Azalea Elementary School Reviews
Will be moving so my children will not go to this school!
From day one of the 2013-2014 school year, have had nothing but disappointment and aggravation with this school. My children were new to Florida school system and we were zoned for Azalea. On the first day of school, the school told me shot records had to be on FL Board of Health letterhead so we went to BOH and spent 4 hours getting those. Day 2 was asked if children had had a physical so we had to make a doctor's appointment for day 3 finally on day 4, my children got to go to school.
My daughter's third grade teacher has called the class "ignorant" and frequently uses the word "crap" in class. A child in her class kept putting his hands on my daughter (hitting, smacking her on the bottom, elbowing her and pushing her) she was told she needed to write it down in her agenda and they would discuss it on Friday when they have their class conference...then weeks later there is a recorded voicemail sent to parents stating that parents needed to talk to their students about bullying because the police had shown up at the school a few times due to children being bullied and the school had no clue there was any bullying going on.
Teachers and staff have visible tattoos that are not covered on their arms and legs. They need to dress in uniforms or business attire if they expect the students to wear uniforms.
My son Jerry has been going to Azalea elementary for 3 years and is starting 3rd grade this year. He loves all his past teachers, miss Kidwell, miss Offutt, and miss Jackson. At first we thought we would send him to a fundamental school or a private school, I'm very glad we gave Azalea a try, Jerry is doing very well here and has made a bunch of friends. My wife is a volunteer here and she is very impressed with this school also. We have a few neighbors with kids in Azalea and they speak about it the same way we do. Excellent school!
My daughter is just finishing her first year at Azalea and she's loved it. She had Mrs. S. Denny as her teacher. Mrs. Denny kept us informed on our daughters progress throughout the year. Azalea has been a good introduction for our family to the school system and our younger daughter will be starting kindergarten in August.
