Oak Grove Elementary School Reviews
I think that this school is a great school but the staff is kind of rude considering that half the staff is Hispanics that dont speack english ( but are willing to help children and parents. One quarter of the staff is just plain mean, but still do their work. And the other quarter of the staff are very nice people who always help. I am agreeing with Evelyn, I would recommend this school to everyone.
Oak Grove Elementary is a wonderful school. The staff and teachers are nice and caring. No one is discriminating because of their nationality or what language they speak. The staff always is ready to help the parents, doesn't matter if they speak english, spanish or another language, everyone in the school are very friendly. I would like to recomend this school to everyone. My three children and I couldn't be happier. Thanks a lot for all the effort, dedication and the love for our children.
This is by far the worst of the 3 elementary schools my children have attended! The office staff are laargely hispanic, which is fine, except for the fact that they greet everyone walking in the door in Spanish. If you are not hispanice, they are quite rude & speak in their native tongue right in front of you! That is absolutely unacceptable, especially for a school in the United States. They teach ESL, however, the staff is not required to speak English?! What kind of example does that set for the students? Additionally, when my son started Kindergarten, over 1/2 the class didn't speak English. while the teacher worked diligently with the students, I feel that the kids that were actually PREPARED were detremented by the lack of attention, the attention that was given to the other students to (1) learn English, then (2) learn the material outlined in the curriculum. Lastly, it is sadly obvious that most of the teachers were extremely underqualified to be teaching elementary school. These years are the very foundation of the students' lifetime of learning. With a gross lack of learning skills & education, how can our children succeed in later years & life without these valuable, basic skills? I couldn't move fast enough to get my children OUT of this school. What a grave disappointment!
this is the first year my daughter has gone to this school and i really give this school an A+ because this school has taught my daughter alot and every day she comes home with a smile on her little face and tells me all the things she has learned in school and it is to the great effort that her teacher has gone through to teach not just my daughter but all of her students thank you very much...
I think this Elementary school is one of the greatest my son has attended. There is a lot of school spirit, the parents are involved in their child's education, and my son has been very happy attending this school. Previous to Oak Grove, my child was attending a school that was supposed to be A+ it was in a wealthy area of town, but the quality of the treatment both me and my son received was poor in comparison to Oak Grove Elementary. Education is a continuing, ongoing process everyone experiences through out their lives. What matters most to me is a positive environment, and the high level of quality I receive from the teachers and staff.
the reason that this school did not make AYP has less to do with the ethnic makeup of its students than it does to the percentage of highly qualified teachers working with those students. 56% of the teachers at this school do not have any sort of educational background whatsoever. the administration does not "cater" to the Hispanic community; it condescends to them by providing their children with "educators" that are not qualified to be teaching at all.
Oak Grove Elementary is a fantastic school. It is prominently hispanic and I feel that is why they did not meet the AYP overall. Many of the students are learning English. My child attends there are is excelling quickly. The teachers and staff are professional and caring. Everyone is like a family. The PTA works very hard to have many activities and rewards for the students throughout the year and their involvement is commendable. I feel Oak Grove is a A school. They work well with the students and the students are excelling. I highly recommend this school to anyone. They especially try to cater to the Hispanic family of our community which is a great asset.
They staff is the greatest and makes you feel important. Everyone works together and is polite and happy. All the kids love going to school and even the kids that go to middle school come back and visit the teachers.
