Coquina Elementary School
: I had 3 children enrolled at this school and it was NOT a pleasant experience. The teachers demand respect, but don't give it! They don't listen to their students and really don't care. They are just their for a paycheck. They kept wanting to retain my oldest son and I just recently found out his teacher couldn't even teach him how to do fractions and he's in the 3rd grade. My middle child had 3 different teachers within the first 3 months of school this year. Don't get me wrong, there are a few great teachers there. The teachers in the aftercare program...I'm NOT a fan of! My oldest son was assualted by one, then badgered by another. They also played favortism with my daughter and it all caused friction with my kids. We've since moved and their new school is AMAZING! My oldest who struggled the most actually enjoys going to school now.

: I went to this school through grades 1-5. I moved from a school about 2 hours away after receiving a perfect reading certificate. I was in the 1st grade at this time when i moved and I had Mrs. Wilson and I spent 2 horrible years with that teacher. She ended up failing me for reading and didnt really give me much help knowing that I needed it in order to pass. I am now going into the 9th grade and I still remember. Both of my parents didnt like her either.

My child's teacher is very harsh and brings him to tears about once a month or more. He has a hard time paying attention and remembering things but he is very intelligent. She treats him like he is an inconvenience. That said, I love the office ladies, the media center is great. The P.E. program is severely lacking but that is due to lack of government funding. My child loves the music teacher who is young, and very sweet. I've heard great things about the science and art teachers as well from my child. I see some good things about the school but we will not be attending Coquina next year.
