About Hartridge Academy
-
Hartridge Academy is located in Winter Haven, FL and is one of 92 elementary schools in Polk. It is a charter school that serves 105 students in grades K-5.
Charter schools are public schools, but differ from traditional public schools in that they are independent and are operated by educators, parents, community leaders, educational entrepreneurs, or others. Funding for charter schools is based on designated local or state educational organizations. Those organizations are responsible for monitoring and assessing the quality and effectiveness of education, but permit the schools to operate outside of the traditional public school education system.
Hartridge Academy made AYP in 2009. Under No Child Left Behind, a school makes Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) if it achieves the minimum levels of improvement determined by the state of Florida in terms of student performance and other accountability measures. See Hartridge Academy's test results to learn more about school performance.
In 2006, Hartridge Academy had 23 students for every full-time equivalent teacher. The Florida average is 16 students per full-time equivalent teacher. Learn more about Hartridge Academy's students and teachers.

I disagree with the above statement. This is my childrens second year and they have taken many great field trips. Some examples last year they say the movie Earth, they went to a science/nature exploration park, and use their bus to go to the public library biweekly as well as to the sport complex for atheletic activities. This is a school that has small classes, interactive activities, individual tutoring assigned to ALL children each week and invite the parents to be a part of that time. I have been very pleased with the well rounded education and award winning stories that they have read.

This is clearly a school that does allow children to be children! Their idea of a field trip is taking the school bus to Publix and lining the children up in a straight line for parent pickup (so that they can receive funding from the state for the bus).
