It seems rather hit or miss depending on the teacher you get. My daughter is extremely bright and didn't progress much in kindergarten. First grade was a whole different story. She was put in a class with other bright kids and her learning was accelerated. Her reading improved 4 grade levels! Her first grade teacher was also very willing to work with us to make her education individualized. The principal cares deeply but is kind of wacky. She is also way too obsessed with the need for homework.
