Salem Middle School Reviews
This School needs money ! Bad, Because our desk are breaking & Our lunches are disgusting!
I continue to be disappointed by Salem Middle School over and over. My son is now in his second year in the school. I have had continuing issues with teachers not responding to me as a parent and not updating my son's online records. The school tries to funnel teacher complaints through the vice principal for that grade but they are not very responsive either. I have even gone as high at to the principal and only got excuses. They seem to be so focused on discipline that they totally ignore the academics. But even that is not working. I agree with the previous poster that the open house was a joke. I wonder if the lack of leadership stems from the principal? I have a very direct comparison as my other son goes to Chapel Hill Middle and I have not experienced half as many problems.
Salem Middle School is an utter disappointment; I shutter to think that they(Organizers/Staff) there, play a part in producing anything that we would rely upon as future leaders or citizens of this nation. I would describe the staff as DISINTERESTED! In my brief experience as a parent there I found no one who seemed remotely interested in developing our children to their full potential. They were more like professional Check Collectors! Though Highly Educated I was met at every turn or question with shrugged shoulders and No reasonable answers to how to meet the needs of my child. I let my child down by enrolling him in THAT SCHOOL! I visited regularly and witnessed students making single digit grades; students lying on the floor during class; students being very disrespectful to the teachers; who were at their wits end because they were understaffed. Teachers even asked me to relay to school officials what I witnessed at the school. I did in fact relay my findings at a school board hearing but I think only two out of the seven even moved their hands from their ears long enough to hear me. I won't make that mistake again! No Way! No Male INFLUENCE of mention present! SALEM MIDDLE SCHOOL in my opinion is a disaster.
i attended the Open House on yesterday 8/5/10 and felt it was unorganized. Normally, open house if for you to meet/greet staff and the principals. No one was available. Also, I felt this could have been time for the schedules or even the students homeroom teacher to given out to help with the caos, on the first day. I just hope the school year is a lot better organized that what I experienced on yesterday.
