Coastal Middle School Reviews
I used to go to this school. I failed 6th grade, went to summer school to pass, repeated 7th grade three times, and dropped out. I'll admit, I could have worked harder and done better, but I just didn't care much. I had no encouragement beyond being told to do my work. I could tell even then, my teachers did care about me. My parents helped little also, taking me to a doctor and being told I had ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), which I didn't actually have. My parents could have sat down with me and worked with me on the homework. I find parents complain after not helping their children the ways they should, putting more pressure on the teachers and guilt on the children. The school was great then and probably still great now. It was the parent-teacher-student connection and it put me in a place that made me care less and less about working. Encourage the child the right way. Not by just saying, "Do your work" and "Pay attention".
This school has great potential, but is not being encouraged to fulfill what it can do. The majority of the teachers do not care to be there. It is simply a job for them and that is sad. You can see it in their faces and tell by their body language. Their interactions with their students are not completely inspiring and engaging as you would hope to see here.
If you can do better, look around some more. If you can place your child in private school do it. Teaching is a very difficult job, and takes a very special person to do it. If you can't be patient, fair and inspire your students to want to be better, then don't become a teacher. But I will honestly say that i have had more problems with the teachers at Coastal. My child is not pleased. Some of her teachers bring their problems to school, and that is not fair to the students. I am not pleased with the school, but go see for yourself. i am looking around for something else.
i hate this school..wost school ever.
I love it here!!! The only bad thing is that we don't have recess. Overall, this school ( to me) is recommended for any student entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade.
