There is dedicated bus service from Hawaii Kai (Kahala, university) and Kailua (pali, downtown) which is an extra cost but is worth it.
Tuition is high but you can see where your money is going. There are 2 teachers and 16 students in every class (k-8) plus resource teachers/support staff (librarian, coaches, music, counselor, health aide, etc). If a student needs help, teachers are willing to work late into the afternoon and on weekends.
The administration supports the teachers. There is an active parent group that also supports the teachers. My child loves his school.
