Genesis Preparatory Academy Reviews
If you want your child to be prepared for college look elsewhere. The academics at Genesis Prep are very weak. The area public schools are much more academically rigorous. GPA students are required to have i-pads, and instead of classroom instruction they typically just spend their classroom time surfing the web and playing video games.
This school has an amazing staff my 3 kids are in the elementary program and all have excelled. With the leadership of the new principal the school is expanding and the opportuities for the students are endless. The teachers are invested in the lives of their students. I love that my children are on fire for the Lord and Genesis is a huge part of that. You will LOVE THIS school!
Love this school
Great school! My kids love going to genesis. Mrs. Ball was amazing this year! I love how my kids are off on Fridays. This school is family focused and strongly suggest watching these amazing teachers in action!
My daughter loves school! She will be in the third grade this year and she had such an amazing experience last year. She struggled and with the small classroom size she excelled. She feels confident and is now above grade level. I feel the elementary program is very strong at genesis.
CAN'T I GIVE IT 0 STARS?
Honestly, just don't do it. If you want a christian school, pick a different one. Their curriculum is appalling. Teachers are not terribly bright people. Nor are they nice. There is no art, no pe, no variety, no coloring outside of their lines. I have never seen such a "One size fits all" education, although the principal will try to sell you a load telling you otherwise.
Waste of time and money
The Christian element is underplayed at Genesis. Other Christian schools include faith elements in all classes. Not Genesis. Teachers are, shall we say... a little strange. Lots of personality issues.
Quality of education is just plain slack, not rigorous as would be expected at a prep academy. Public education is much better even with all its faults. Sad to say this.
This is the worst school my child has ever attended. Poorly managed, confused and confusing curricula, mostly inept instruction. There are not a lot of alternatives in N. Idaho, but this one should be avoided at all cost.
Our teachers are amazing!
Hi all Jaguars!
Please find below a press release that will be in the CDA Press in the next few days! Awesome news for Genesis Prep Academy:
Genesis Prep Academy Earns Prestigious NCAA Approval
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has awarded Genesis Prep Academy with its highly coveted approval for all core subjects. GPA’s core courses will satisfy the NCAA requirement for high school athletes wishing to participate in any division of NCAA college athletics. Following a rigorous NCAA course approval application process, Genesis Prep is one of the first private schools in North Idaho to receive the NCAA approval for its courses.
"In addition to our dually accredited status with AdvancEd and ACSI, the NCAA approval is another gold standard for our high school educational program," stated Genesis Prep’s Administrator Chris Finch. "I am extremely proud of our GPA team for their dedication in providing the highest quality and creative educational program for our students.”
This news comes at the perfect time following GPA’s recent announcement of going Associate Membership with their Boys High School Basketball this next school year and the goal set on full IHSAA membership by 2015-2016 allowing GPA to play in1A District and State Tournaments.
Genesis Prep Academy- currently offers Boys & Girls High School Basketball, Middle School Basketball, High School and Middle School Girls Volleyball, and recently added this year High School Boys and Girls Golf under Associate Membership of IHSAA, 2A.
Genesis Prep Academy is currently accepting Open Enrollment applications through for grades K-12 students. More information about the Genesis Prep Open Enrollment can be obtained on the School's website www.genesisprep.org or contacting Genesis Prep Office at 208-691-0712.
Very bad school
Teachers are not qualified to due there jobs. Teachers loses there temper easily and overreact at insignificant acts. Very closed minded to other religions. You buy your own iPad and they just take it over, deleting everything on it.
Lacking quality education for your money..
I have to agree with Run Far Far Away about this school. Education is not a priority for this school. They are lacking quality teachers to teach the kids what they will need to know to move on to college.
One of My Biggest Regrets Ever!
Although the Bible is taught at the school and Biblical principals are part of the student/parent agreement/handbook, the principal/teachers do not enforce the school rules nor do they practice what they preach with regard to their behavior, speech and attitude toward both students and parents. The students are supposed to adhere to a modest dress code but don't. Cursing/swearing/offensive language and topics are common among students who are rarely reprimanded or punished for this. Cheating is rampant. Cell phone use is common in class and during tests. Public displays of affection at school happen regularly with one student leaving the school this year since she had sex on the school grounds and soon thereafter discovered she got pregnant.
Frankly, I am uncertain if the teachers and administration dislike or are afraid of confronting the students or have been advised to turn a blind eye to these blatant offenses so the school retains more students and has a higher overall grade point average resulting in more money for the school. Even the students all agree that the club hockey students can get away with a lot more than the non-hockey students since it could have a greater financial impact on the school. As a result, the students are getting a poorer education, taught that rules don't matter and Christians are hypocrites. It would appear that the school's administration is motivated and led by money and pride (in grades, attendance #'s and sports) than by Biblical principles, faith and a strong educational foundation.
I have been sorely disappointed in this school and, although I still hope that these issues will be corrected before the end of the school year, don't hold out much of a chance that they will. My only hope is that my child will have enough of an educational and biblical foundation to succeed in college despite attending Genesis Prep.
Genesis prepatory academy is by far a horrible choice. For 5 grand a year they don't even offer more than one language class and have little to none electives and the teachers are barely accredited and my son tells me half the time they don't do anything in their classes besides play on their iPads and cheat on test. I would not recommend this school and feels it's a expensive daycare
The worst school ever. The lowest funded public education is better than Genesis
The education is so low level I think my child will have to repeat this year.
Classes at higher levels are not understood by the teachers teaching them. You have more options at public school, online education, and homeschooling. No art for graduation requirements. They only offer Spanish, and as many colleges require 2 years of language, this really limits a student's options. No PE classes.
For $5k, all my kid got was a wasted year of his/her education. Students are taught 100% on one track. If you are in 10th grade and in geometry, you will take a full 11th grade class load because that is all they have. No deviation from your grade year "track" whatsoever.
Worst academic year of my student's life. Small minded, conservative thinking. They sell themselves as able to accommodate your student because they are so small. No flexibility. No customer service.
This school is the best ever! It is accredited and the teachers are amazing! Things have really changed since I was in 6th grade. I am a senior this year and I'm really glad I didn't change schools. It was a bit shaky when the school opened, but now they are much better about us and our education. I highly recommend this school to everyone!
