I graduated from Waubonsie Valley in 2007, and could not be more satisfied with my high school experience. I had wonderful teachers who not only gave me an excellent education, but also were passionate about the subjects and students that they taught.
I am thrilled that I attended Waubonsie instead of Neuqua Valley. I never felt pressured to live up to the reputations or "expectations" of any socioeconomic status, or to alter my class schedule in attempts to boost my GPA. I also never felt unsafe, and any problems that others try to deflect onto WVHS can be found in any public school.
Also, Waubonsie's music program is simply incomparable. The experience I had from being a member of the choir department, specifically under the direction of Mark Myers, were the highlight and defining moments of my youth and teenage years. I learned more about myself and about life from rehearsals through the WV music program than I have learned in my entire college career at Northwestern University. The passion and charisma that oozes from the WV music department are one of the many things that makes the school a phenomenal place.

For the commentor above, sorry to say my children have had a wonderful experience at WVHS. They have been involved in one of the best music programs in the state. They have had great teachers and a wonderful HS experience. My kids are at opposite ends of the learning spectrum with one having learning difficulties and the other taking honors level courses. I have lived in the IPSD school district for 20 years. I also live in Aurora, which is the 2nd largest city in the state of IL.
If you think gangs and drug influence don't exist in any suburb, you are sadly mistaken. Naperville has its issues too, just read the newspaper.
WV is a wonderful HS that I would highly recommend. It is great in tradition with a huge variety of courses to take and extracurriculars to be involved in. District 204 is a great school district.

I was a former student at WVHS and it was one of the worst experiences of my life! Everyday me and my friends were bullied for NO GOOD REASON!!! Now I have a 15 yr. old daughter at WVHS and it's gotten a whole lot worse!! They sell drugs in the back of the library, there are at LEAST 15 gangs in the school, the gang violence and bullying has gotten way out of hand, and the education the kids are receiving is just horrible!!!! My daughter is in all the remedial classes and shes flunking them, same with every other teen in our neighborhood that goes there! ... Every mother out there listen to me and listen good, Aurora is a downright awful and poor place to live. There's crime everywhere, drugs, and bad education and it's a bad place to raise a child due to the awful schools and teachers. I'm trying to move out of Aurora currently so I can save my daughter, so my advice to anyone looking for a home here, your better off in Lisle or Naperville (If you can afford to live in Naperville...good luck with that!!!!) or even Arlington Heights. So if you want your children to be successful, drug free, and happy teens in high school I STRONGLY RECOMMEND NOT GOING TO WAUBONSIE VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL!!!
