Bronzeville Lighthouse Elementary Chrtr Reviews

My child at been at BZLCS since it opened and I can honestly say for me, my daughter is doing excellent. We transferred from a catholic school that did not touch what my child receives at BZ. My child has maintained a straight A average since 2nd grade here at BZ and I wouldn't change that for the world. I have excellent rapport with all staff from the Principal on down. On a sad note, BZ would fair better if there were selective enrollment. As with any place there is minimal parent involvement until there is a problem. I believe we as parents help make a school and BZ could really use more parents that care about their kids. With more committment parental involvement BZ will continue to shine. B.E.A.M!

By Chicago Public standards this school is very good.  By concerned parent standards it is above average at best.  There is little or no physical education program.  The Science department is stretched to its maximum.

The school is in one of Chicago's most ethnically diverse so the resources of the school are stretched.  As it is open enrollment, class sizes can be large.

Despite these seeming negatives the combination of a strong Principal and a good group of teachers keeps the educational levels high in this school.

I was wary at first to enroll my child in public school.  After two years here I have no problem leaving him in the system until 6th or 7th grade.  After that CPS lacks as a whole but Clinton is a good school during the base learning years.
