Chicago Academy High School Reviews
I think its pretty SAD a parent took the time to post about lunches? Seriously- what is more important your son's education or his stomach?
I'm an IHSA Softball Umpire/Retired Teacher from Rolling Meadows H.S. Bill Horgan & I umpired your Softball Game on Wed. (May 9th) vs. Willows Academy of DesPlaines....Ms. Val Enwall, Coach/A.D. was an excellent Teacher/Coach to the Girls!..."Outstanding Sportsmanship & Behavior"......
im a current student at this school and i can tell you right now that the teachers do actually care for you. in the review above, i don't think i have seen this happen to students, at least for the ones i know that actually TRY because there are students who come to class and warm the seat [if they come at all].im not A+ student, nor am i a straight F but i can tell you that if you do the work and ask for help when needed the teachers will be there to help you. you also have to know that this is a college prep school this will not be easy, some kids that do think this get overstressed or lazy and give up. sometimes the work is too much to handle but this is to prepare us for college and we have had graduate students that come back to the teachers and say that they were to easy on them because they let us redo things and in college most of the time you cant. yes they do care about ACT scores but that isnt the only thing, they also care about us [all the teachers in their own way] and try their best to help us. i can give many examples but i feel this is long enough. if you want a good education then yes this is a good school but if all you want to do is sit around, talk, make friends, pretty yourself up to look cool please do not come here there are enough of those people and frankly i cant stand it.
btw size has nothing to do with the educational value of a school.
By all that i've read and heard about Chicago Academy I can tell that this high school is very organized and is one of the high schools that would fit me best.I'm an 8th grade student, and have been searching for high schools that I can go to.I am applying to go to this high school for many reasons.
Chicago Academy teaches to the test and it is not a fair education for all of the students. Also, many teachers do not care about their students that is why so many of them fail. Teachers think that they are the best but they REALLY are NOT! They just know how to make their test score numbers look great for CPS due to the AUSL leadership. Lastly, most of the students that fail classes are dropped or forced to move to another school so that it will not affect the academic reputation of the school! Having been there I know that these facts are true. Nevertheless this TINY high school can NEVER be compared to a larger school!
I think the lunch hour created all at once is wrong there are too many students trying to get thier lunch and eat within the time allowed. My son would never eat lunch because he had no time due to the fact of all students in the lunch room at the same time. There should be assined lunch periods for the different grades.Something you should consider!
Chicago academy high school is a good school. The teachers & the staff make you feel comfortable talking to. They will help you when you need help on a assignment and will go over that assignment till you understand.
i think this school is very interesting and fun.
