I hated the school my first year to. It is a big difference to get used to. The teachers teach differently and just a lot is different. IMP math is annoying but the idea is to challenge us to get ideas on our own. The kid above obviously did not stay long enough to get the NSCP experience which I now enjoy.

I went to this school thinking it was the best school in the state. I was dead wrong. The staff is terribly mean there. They do not help you at all with anything. I couldn't even go to my counselor because she never had enough time for me. Most of the teachers aren't very good. The staff is also way too defensive when it comes to the school. One day, I merely suggested to a teacher that the school should have a football team to get funded more by the government. All hell broke loose. The IMP math program is terrible. It didn't teach me anything. The only class I found to be remotely challenging was World Studies. Additionally, these classes may be honors level , but they are not challenging at all. Do not listen to people trying to scare you and tell you this school is hard. I never even studied and I still got good grades. I ended up transferring to a suburban public school after less then a year at NCP. Let me tell you one thing, the honors classes in my current school are 20x more challenging, but the amazing teachers make up for it.
I would recommend going to this school if you don't have the option of going to a private or suburban school. It is extremely safe compared to other cps schools. I also understand that the education is better than other CPS schools. I am just letting you know that it is not nearly what you expect it to be.
