Talman Elementary School

S. Ramos: I have two children that have been enrolled at Talman since Pre-K.  Although this school was not my first choice, I am really happy that they are there!  I think that it is a very unique school where parent involvement is truely encouraged, not only at home but inside the school.  The parent mentor program is a wonderful thing and I'm sure one of the big factors in making this school so successful.  When children see their parents or other family members so involved in their education, it wants to make them learn that much more.  Talman gives that feeling of family and a safe environment from the moment you walk in the door.  With being one of the top five schools according to last year's test scores, that says a great deal of the commitment of the staff, parents and students.  How much more successful does this school need to be in order for CPS to provide them with the building and tools they deserve?

Talman is a great school where you can find a family environment, not only for parents but the most important for the students. My daughter askem me; mom I know Talman is a good school, why CPS does not give us our own building? What we can do it for reach that purpose.

I think that Talman Elementary should be a model school. All of the staff is willing to go that extra mile to insure that the children are getting the best education possible.  We don't have our own building, we don't have modern computers, but we have great test scores, great teachers and children  that are willing and eager to learn.  Please help us save our school! To many of our kids here at Talman it's the only positive thing in their lives.  Please help help us in whatever way you can.
