Highland Elementary School Reviews

By a Parent on

Good school;  they have positive guidelines and goals for students to achieve.  My daughter's kindergarten teacher was wonderful; my 5 yr old is reading at almost 2nd grade level thanks to all the help her teacher provided.

My daughter is in kindergarten at Highland Elementary School, so we haven't yet had a whole year to review, but at this point I am pleased with the school.  My daughter is doing well in her class.  I think her teacher is a no nonsense kind of teacher, but that is beneficial because it keeps my daughter on track.  She is in the accelerated reader program, and reads very well for 5 years old.  Actually she reads better that some children older than her.  Highland also stresses the importance of being a good ciitzen, with emphasis on honesty, integrity, behavior, etc.  The principles they are trying to instill in the children are a refreshing change to how society now is accepting of an 'anything goes' sort of attitude.  Don't get me wrong, my daughter is a typical 5 year old, with 5 year old behavior problems, but I think the school is good at 'reeling in' the behavior before it gets out of control which I appreciate.  I am hoping to continue to be involved in the classroom actiivties and PTA programs, and have a voice in some of the decisions that affect my daughter in her education.
