Northview Middle School Reviews
The campus is nice as are the teachers and I find them easy to deal with. The office staff is one of the nicest I have ever known! My child likes the school and the class mates. The teachers have gone out of their way to help my child and discipline is maintained so that bullying, fights, etc. are dealt with swiftly and harshly so that my child feels safe there and knows the line will be towed as far as that is concerned. All in all a decent learning environment.
What I have found extremely irritating as do staff and other parents that I have talked to is the fact that this school will hound you repeatedly for your child's immunization records....EVERY YEAR! No matter how many times you give them the records they will LOSE them and then act like you never gave it to them in the first place complete with threatening letters and calling your child out of class to go down to the office so they can then threaten your child to be denied entry to the school.
This is so unbelievably irresponsible! Its not like we are talking Christmas cards here...these are legal documents that should be seriously guarded due to privacy and not allowed to be passed around and lost multiple times three years in a row! My best guess is that they are handing over the actual copies you give them to the state vs making a copy for their files first because they can't be bothered and then the state then loses it and demands it from the school which of course then has to go bugging you for another. Its either that or they are so unorganized that they fail to file them away properly in the first place which means that your child's records are either in another child's folder, they threw them out, they are sitting in a stack somewhere and rather than go through that stack they just keep hassling you for another copy, a teacher has the copy in their possession which they should not, or someone has access to the supposedly locked records room to somehow pilfer private vaccination records from the children's files. While kind and helpful, the counselors have failed at times to pass information along to my child's teachers which would have helped avoid some misunderstandings between the teachers and my child. So in short its one of the best schools my child ever attended, but be prepared for this immunization hassling. Had I thought for one minute that I would be harassed repeatedly over legal documentation that I faithfully provided many times every year my child attended there...I would have documented it myself with signatures from staff on a letter of my own making vouching that they did indeed receive the records because after you give them anything its their word against yours. I think there is some sort of organization issue either on the part of the school or the state and that the entire issue of immunization records at NVMS is being terribly mismanaged and its been going on a long time. Where exactly have the three or so copies of my child's health records disappeared to and why can't NVMS keep a copy in the file? They have no excuse. That is what I was told with absolutely no answers or conviction to do better or correct the problem. If anyone has some insight on why this problem exists I would certainly appreciate knowing because the entire thing is handled entirely too casually for my taste and I have no way of knowing who has physical possession of my child's personal information. I think it should be seriously looked into and some reform accomplished when a state run institution (might as well be if they get funding right and the staff claim that it is the state that keeps asking for it) can't properly maintain personal information.
this school is very garbage. they don't care about grades they just care about winning in the sport's department. you do not even have to have good grades to play sports. this school is horrible academically.
I do not like this school at all the teachers really don't seem to care about the students as a parent I have made several phone calls to see what needs to be done with grades and all anyone can tell me is that his behavior is good and he trys but I don't know what to do! AS a new parent to this school this is awful!
test rating of 4? that explains a lot
Northview is the best middle school in Washington Township. The above info is outdated. NV is the only Washington Township middle school to make AYP in 2009.
Get to know the fantastic faculty. You will never meet teachers more enthusiastic about students.
