Westlane Middle School Reviews
this school is one of the best and funest places here they have really great teachers there.
Westlane is a fairly large urban middle school in the north central part of the city with grades 6-8. Principal Linda Lawrence is an experienced and dedicated principal who has developed a very strong team including teachers early and later in their careers. Westlane, along with the 2 other middle schools in Washington Township, was named a National School to Watch in Feb 2011 by the National Forum which rates schools for their academic excellence, their responsiveness to the challenges of early adolescence, and for creating a socially equitable environment providing every student with top teachers, resources and support. The school is diverse racially and socio-economically with a significant percentage of students receiving free or reduced lunches. There are advanced, or "X" classes across most disciplines and a nice array of electives including multiple foreign languages, music and art. In 2011 Westlane initiated the first accreditation steps for the International Baccaleureate. Teachers and staff are responsive and willing to partner with parents who reach out to the school. The PTO is active and there are both formal sports programs and affiliated community programs that recruit at the school. Bright kids have great opportunities at the school. Mainstream or shy kids will need your advocacy to succeed in classrooms with a high ratio of low income, street savvy classmates.
I think Westlane is the best school ever!
