About the ISTEP
What is it?
The The Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress-Plus (ISTEP+) are annual tests used to measure a student's mastery of the state's grade-level academic standards.
Which Grades and Subjects?
Students in grades 3 through 10 are assessed in English/language arts and math and in grades 5 and 7 in science.
How is it Scored?
Students are rated at one of three levels:"did not pass", "pass", or "pass+". The goal is for all students to score at or above the "pass" level. Students must pass the grade 10 ISTEP+ in order to graduate from high school.
About the ECA
What is it?
The ISTEP+ End-of-Course Assessments (ECAs) are criterion-referenced assessments used to measure a student's mastery of the state's academic standards.
Which Grades and Subjects?
Students are assessed in Algebra I, Biology I, or English 10 at the end of each course.
How is it Scored?
The End-of-Course Assessments are scored as did not pass or pass and the state's goal is for all students to pass the test.
