My children have attended many fine schools around the country but WIS was very inferior, comparatively. There is no foreign language. Math is average which should be above grade level. Teacher quality was very substandard as my child's teacher should have been fired long ago. The principal has not responded to numerous complaints about some of the bad teachers that continue teaching at the school. Some parents complain about disruptive classrooms and I found that to be the case. There were no term papers, science projects, labs, oral presentations, book reports, very little writing, creative expression, no summer assignments , etc. Students will not be prepared to embrace higher level learning if they are stymied in 5th and 6th. My child was treated very poorly by his teacher and yet nothing was done so I would not rate this school as one that cares enough about the students.

I love Westfield schools! We came from Carmel whose schools have a great reputation. Westfield schools are far superior in my opinion. They are much more progressive - taking into account children's personal learning styles, they encourage good citizenship, and they do a fantastic job of rewarding good behavior.
