The integrated Louisiana Educational Assessment Program (iLEAP) are annual tests used to measure a student's mastery of the state's grade-level academic standards.
Which Grades and Subjects?
Students are assessed in grades 3, 5, 6, 7 and 9 in math and English language arts. In grades 3, 5, 6 and 7 students are assessed in science and social studies.
How is it Scored?
Students are scored at one of five levels: advanced, mastery, basic, approaching basic and unsatisfactory. The goal is for all students to score at or above the basic level.

My son just started kindergarten this year (2009) and is in the French Immersion program. So far I am very pleased. The children are well behaved and enthusiastic. My son loves to go and the expectations are high. The teachers seem to really enjoy working there. The students get a lot of positive feedback which my son thrives on. I have spoken to volunteers, teachers and parents of former students and have gotten really good answers. Along with French Immersion the school also has the Gifted program which is well respected. If I had known how well I like it I probably would have sent my daughter (we went the private school route with her).
