Carrabassett Valley Academy

CVA has a bullying issue. It unfortunately stems from the fact that you have employee and staff members's children that rule the school and the law does not apply to these few students. CVA also has a monetary agreement with some parents which means if you donate lots of money your kid will also run free and the law does not apply to your child. I think in the real world that is called a bribe! Your call? The headmaster is well aware of what goes on at the school, however her concern is to raise enough money because the school has a bad mold issue and they need to build a new building. So she wears her red sneakers to remind herself and everyone around her that her feet are on fire and the sole purpose is to collect as much money as possible. Regardless of who gets hurt around her. Now I ask you, is this the enviroment you want your son or daughter in?  

CVA enrollment is down significantly from the 2008 statistics listed above.  CVA's snow sports training program is very good and their distance learning is good during the race season.  In 2011 there was a new headmaster put in place that will hopefully clean out the level of nepotism that has been the concern for many parents.  Looking back at my child's CVA experience I would have talked more to some of the parents of children that no longer attend CVA to get a unbiased assessment of what to expect from the school.
