Cornish Elementary School

Mattl: So Far not impressed!!!

The one thing I can say I like is the class rooms have  there own grades for teaching its not combined. However when it was combined it taught the older kids to be patient and help the younger kids. I dont like the fact that at Cornish the parking is not sufficient at all. I disagree that the kids have to exit the school for Art & Library in the cold and winter times. There is not even room now after combining Fred Morrill & Cornish together to make room for the book fair that we have always done. The PTC seems to only want things the way they use to and not take new ideas from the Parsonsfield parents. We need a school Board that will see we need the smaller schools.  

The school is over burdened with children and is need of decent school board that understands smaller classroom size is beneficial. The children will have to exit the school in winter to access the art and library rooms that are in a temporary building. The school board will not give the school any additional monies for upgrades because their master plan is to combine the school with the larger Hiram Elementary. Hiram will need a multimillion dollar addition to have the additional children there and with the economy - it may not happen. The board should have closed Cornish and added those students to Fred Morrill Elementary in Parsonsfield. Fred Morrill School was larger, newer, better play ground and sufficient parking. The kids are left in the lurch.
