Benjamin Tasker Middle School Reviews

Benjamin Tasker is a school that is so concerned with MSAs (which benefit the teachers in making them look good) that they don't try to help the children who may need a little extra help. If your child does anything wrong, they will not investigate the situation; suspension is the only solution. Punishment for the child? I think not, who wouldn't want to stay home? I guess this is punishment for the parent who has to stay home also and lose out on money. Yes, you should control your children, but what help or assistance do you receive? Nothing. These teachers and counselors only lie to you about helping your child. If you want a great school for your child, look hard. But not here.

Benjamin Tasker Middle School is a school that has some good things in it. Such as 20% of good teachers, maybe 40% good students that actually want to learn, and that's about the only good things about it. The things that are horrible are the class sizes, the bus sizes, and the teachers that can't teach their class because as they say are not home trained. So the students there don't get enough help with their work. And yes I do agree that this school is a complete waste. If they don't achieve to make their Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) again I hope that they will close the school down, and then reopen it with some  potential.

The teachers are overwhelmed with disciplining the children. I think that they need more security in the school. I don't feel the children are getting enough academic skills, such as writing and more study and homework. They are always busy studying for MSA's. What is that all about? How do they compete academically when they are not being challenged academically. Their vocabulary is outrageous. The language Arts department doesn't offer a list of reading material for the year, so that the students can be above grade level. I'm sorry that we didn't have any good choices in schools.

I hope Prince George County gets it together or we're going to lose a whole generation of 6-8th graders who will be struggling in high school because their middle school fell short of academic training.
