Harford Christian School Reviews
Harford christian school - not a place to be
At one time this was a great school. over the years the quality of education has eroded. academics are way behind public schools. Teachers do not explain lessons and give to much homework. Enrollment continues to go down. save time and effort and move on.
In my opinion, which is most definitely biased, HCS is a great school. We minister to the whole child which is unique in today's educational environment. I'm priviledged to work with wonderful families that want that good foundation of learning and the skills necessary to succeed in life. The best of our education process starts with the Word of God in our K-4 program and continues until graduation.
I'm particularly fond of our middle school. I work with a professtional team that loves the Lord and the kids that God has placed in our care.
At our last open house a prospective family asked an unusual question. What was the school staff turnover? Wow, this was a new one. I am pleased to say that it is extremely low. Most of our young female staff leave for a short time and return to teach after their maturnity leave. This is a wonderful place to work... and we have fun with not only our kids, but with each other. HCS is my home away from home.
For the most part the student body is respectful and hard-working. We communicate alot with parents of our 7th-9th graders. These are sometimes tough years of adolescence.
Our fine arts program and sports program are top-notch. This is a really busy place with non-stop events.
One of the most enjoyable times of the week is our chapel service with a guest speaker. Sometimes missionaries, pastors, or distinguished guests will bring a message to us from God's Word.
We are so blessed to have so many Godly men on staff to bring a message to us. Mr. Brad Fleming, Mr. Shane Burge, Mr. Adam Eschelman, Mr. Jerry Slonaker, Mr. Don Nickson, Mr. Bryan Wilson, and Dr. John McKnight are often a part of our chapel.
Our kindergareten building is lovely, and the little ones are in the hands of some precious teachers and helpers. They are truly gifted women working with these little ones. Our elementary staff lays that grand foundation with reading and math with their whole hearts. Of course, the high school is my home. We take care of the fine tuning of their foundation to prepare them for whatever God will call them to do. And once again... we enjoy these kids!
Our school has some special needs. We need more room for teaching, fine arts and sports, and are making plans, called Vision 21, to build a brand new high school. We've recently completed the site development, but are praying for the funds. This is a busy, busy school!
Finally, I would highly recommend HCS to ANYONE who desires an Christ-centered educational environment, who desires an administration and teachers that will communicate with you and pray for you and your child/children, and who desires a firm foundation for the "whole" child.
