Holly Bashura: My son has been at Bellows for a year and a half. He, and we as parents, absolutely love this school. He has grown and learned so much. The AR program truely encourages children to read and in the process creates the love of reading. Unfortunately, he will be in another school next year due to moving. Even though on paper, the new school is rated a 10, I don't know how it can compare to Bellows.

This school is not very diverse. The first year for my child in this school was not a pleasant one.

My child is thriving at Bellows Spring, and unlike most children in the US who want to stay awake past their bedtime to watch TV, my child wants to READ..."just for another 15 minutes." Recently, I overheard her on the telephone telling her grandmother about a book she was reading. She was explaining that the main character in the book was "livid" about her situation. Yes, a 10 year old properly used the word "livid" in her casual conversation. How wonderful! She looks forward to going to class, she has made numerous freinds, and I am extremely happy to see that her group of friends is so inclusive. We have lived in serveral states, and this is her fourth school. While she has always performed well scholastically, she had never been so motivated, nor has she had as many friends as she has now at Bellows Spring. Kudos to the teachers!!!

My child will be attending Kindergarten this year. When I went to back to school night and then went to the open house on Friday (8/28/09). I was a little caught off guard by the diversity of the children and teachers my daughter is half African America and half white and I was hoping that there would be at least some african american teachers in any of her classes out of the six that they have but I did not see any at all and there was only one other african american boy in her class and the majority of them white and one hispanic. I just recently saw what this schools diversity was and am not pleased. If I would have known about this early on I would have explored other schools in the area.
