Right Start Academy Reviews
My daughter began at RSA 3 days after her 2nd birthday (7 months ago, now), and has grown by leaps and bounds during this time! This establishment describes itself as a preschool and rightfully so. To call it (and treat it as) a daycare is simply understating and undervaluing the impact the staff has on your child's development.
Upon visiting my daughters former daycare just 3 months after moving to RSA, her former daycare providers were so impressed with how much and how well my daughter was speaking - especially compared to her former classmates who remained at that daycare and could have previously been described as further along than my daughter. In the 3 short months at RSA, she surpassed their abilities!
Now 7 months later, my daughter is frequently mistaken for a 3.5 year old purely based upon her diction, recognition of colors (correctly identifies 5 colors consistently), reasoning skills, ability to speak in complete sentences, social aptitude, writing skills and being within final stages of toilet training. The breadth and depth of the curriculum, teaching abilities and personal interest in each child is outstanding! I'd previously heard about the quality of preparedness this school provides children, but to see this level of flourishing in your own child is remarkable to see.
Logistically, the school makes things easy for parents and has established security measures to ease concern. There is personalized secure entry for each child/parent and video monitoring so I can see my child throughout the day. Check-in and check-out is quick, the daily reports are detailed and craft projects are creative, appropriate and fun to take home. Automatic payment is available and makes things convenient, and once monthly extended hours (called parents night out) allow parents to have a date night, or run errands, without making separate babysitting arrangements. The school provides all meals and the building is well kept and I witness the cleansing of toys in the evenings when I pick up my daughter.
I am extremely pleased with Right Start Academy. From academics to business practices, they are a well run school. Since I don't naturally have the ability to teach, I rely upon the skills of the teachers to set the tone for what I reinforce at home. Their guidance in her academic and social development are exactly what we need to build a solid foundation for my daughter's future.
Very well maintained, well planned for and thought after school. My beef is with the nature of the school being maybe 'too professional?' Maybe professional isn't the word. The people in charge of this place are really low on enthusiasm and charisma. Makes you wonder why they work in daycare and not in an office cube somewhere. I've had experience in childcare before and the former boss was very likeable. Greeted the kids by name and always showed mutual interest in the kids. She was also super involved and vocal with the parents. I know this sounds silly, but I almost find myself being scared to talk to the staff.
That's why using the word professional isn't exactly right. I would think professionals would be more like my former boss. They are just more... business minded I guess.
My kid seems to really like the school and I can't complain with the curriculum. So it's a little better than 'meh' when it evens out.
Love the school. Teachers do a really good job teaching and keeping the kids busy all the time. They play and learn too.
RightStart is great. The teachers are happy, friendly, involved and patient. They know all the kids and take a persona interest in the kids success. The extras like yoga, spanish, and field trips are great. My son loves going to "school".
