I like the fact that I see Principal Jones out on the parking lot directing traffic every morening. However, I was disappointed that a Catholic School does not the First Holy Communion program for 2nd graders, that it ahd when I attended years ago.

My grandaughter attends the 2nd grade at Slade. I find the school to be adequate but not exceptional. The classes are too large (student to teacher ratio) and I do not feel that there is enough one to one attention given to marginal students. The school seems to be too image oriented and taxes parents excessively by requiring a number of hours of "volunteer" labor OR sending the parents a bill for several hundred dollars at term's end if they do not "volunteer." In the old days that was called extortion. I attended the old style Catholic school where classes were taught by Nuns or Brothers and no one attended the school that was NOT Catholic. I think that more emphasis must be put on the religious training in the earliest grades.
