Monarch Academy is located in Glen Burnie, MD and is one of 83 elementary schools in Anne Arundel County Public Schools School District. It is a charter school that serves 363 students in grades K-6.
Charter schools are public schools, but differ from traditional public schools in that they are independent and are operated by educators, parents, community leaders, educational entrepreneurs, or others. Funding for charter schools is based on designated local or state educational organizations. Those organizations are responsible for monitoring and assessing the quality and effectiveness of education, but permit the schools to operate outside of the traditional public school education system. See Monarch Academy's test results to learn more about school performance.
In 2011, Monarch Academy had 16 students for every full-time equivalent teacher. The Maryland average is 15 students per full-time equivalent teacher.
I have 4 kids at Monarch. It is a great fit for all of them for different reasons. Learning here is fun and active. If you want your child to sit quietly in a desk and fill in worksheets, you will not be happy here. My kids are all excited to go to school everyday. They do activities and take trips that make me jealous! The teachers and administartion are the most competent and hardworking staff I have encountered in a school.
My child does not like it so far but this is her first year she says there is not many girls in the 5 th grade also art and gym is very boring which I don't understand she loves both of those subjects as for me I think the staff could be a lot more friendlier every time I call the school for any reason they act like it is a bother all they say is send a email

My son has been a student at the school for 2 years and we love it. The only thing that he doesn't like is that they don't have any Foreign Language Electives. The teachers, Principal and staff are all extremely supportive and caring. I have a great relationship with my son's teachers and we email each other to stay on the same page.
This school is a creat enviornment full of diversity, respect and positive leaders. Here we support as well as challenge our students and staff to be awesome at the task at hand. We have a generation that will soon be taking care of a family and career of their own and it is up to us to assure their growth in a positive direction.
