Its A Family Affair Child Care Center Reviews
Amazing School, Great Quality of Care and Education
The staff is great!! They TRULY care about each child in the center. They work with the children academically as well as personally. I am a parent of this school (i was referred). Enrolling my child here was the best decision.
In response to the negative comments about the Director, she IS stern. Her goal is to provide the BEST environment, education and care for the students. I believe that is the focus of the center. She is strict with rules, but rules are in place for a reason.
If your tired of the normal PG County Area Childcare
After having my child in unorganized childcare facilities and unmotivated employees I am glad that my child is at It's a Family Affair. The Director really cares about the children and employees, organized, rules-- if this is not you don't enroll your child here. If you are used to chitlin' circuit and getting over on somebody childcare do not come to this childcare because it does cost $$$ and requires you to play an active roll in your child's early childcare. Days off to maintain the facility, closing early for employee training, requiring your attendance on field trips, participation in fundraisers, that does happen here, all that happens. It costs money to run a business where employees care about where they work and to have activities for the children. I love it. I like the handbook. Don't make me think. Tell me what to do, I don't have time to figure out certain details. Tell me what to do and how I as a parent can support is why I like this daycare. Plus it's clean, doesn't smell like a potty when you enter it. At the end of the day when it's time to pick up your child the facility is clean.
I read all these horrible reviews before enrolling my child into this program! Hands down the teachers are excellent... I should have listened to these reviews [content removed by School Finder Review Team]. The only reason I have my child here still is because this will be the last year before kindergarten.. They close early and close on certain days but you still pay the full price which is already over priced.. [content removed by School Finder Review Team].
I love the teachers and the facility is clean and well maintained. My issue is the Director. She is not friendly or loving. She treats the parents as if they are children. I think she forgets how she is making a living. It's sad as I stated, everything else is great.
They are also closed a lot, about 22 days out of the year.
If you can deal with a controlling and unreasonable director, you will be okay here.
Overall..........wow! As a business owner I understand half way decent service and overall there is just one major issue with this facility. The Director!!!!!!! Quick to tell you as a parent what you should be doing, but she has yet to follow her own curriculum. Everything from parent teacher conferences to progress reports are never on time. Unless however your child has done something wrong. And dont ever be late or have a family emergency. 1 min late picking up or dropping off your child she is beyond unreasonable imposing late fees and denying care. For 1 min!!!?!?! Crazy! She must of been bullied as a child cause this little bit of power has totally gone to her head. The teachers are great, but leadership is horrible and it all starts there. Enrollment is down and for great reason, no one wants to spend 1 k a month to lack luster service and to be reprimanded as if you are a child. After spending the amount of money I've spent here for the service I'm thinking you would do better else where......I know I have. Good luck if you do decide to go with them, but beware!
The facilities are excellent and well maintained. This is the newest preschool in the area. The issue you will have as parents is with the director. There is a family handbook that is used as a sword when chastising parents (which she does often), but consistently ignored at other times. We never received bi-annual feedback or parent/teacher discussions as promided. Bottom line for us was when the fundraiser for the year was a request to support the director's daughter in a contest. Using the mailing list of the school to forward her personal interests, that was the last straw.
