Deer Crossing Elementary School Reviews
Good kids attend this school
The kids who go to this school are great. [Content removed by Education.com]
School only worried about standardized testing and the teaching has suffered as a result. They practice for taking the test rather than learning the material they will be tested on. We have had serious issues regarding huge holes in what our child is learning. No one is willing to take any responsibility for problems at this school. Staff is always willing to take the credit when something is done right by the students. They always seem to say we need more money. Spending twice as much as private schools yet delivering half the performance is what you get at this school.
Wow! I thought I was the only one unhappy with this school and the new principal. The previous post about voting the socialist school board out of office is dead on!!!Place is run by, staffed by and managed by, losers with useless degrees and zero real world knowledge or common sense. My child's teacher wore a tie died shirt and sweat pants on a field trip with parents we went on with the students to the fair grounds. She was rude to myself and the other parents. She can't be fired because she is union and she knows it. Run from this place unless you wear an Obama shirt while drinking Kool-Aid.
Test scores prove this is the best place for my children
I will not be back next year. Teachers more interested in their pay than teaching the kids. Parents treated as second class citizens with administration acting like royalty binging on 100k plus incomes at the detriment of the schools operating budgets. The only reason I will return to Deer Crossing is to vote the current socialist school board out of office in November.
Strong teachers, focus on enrichment, comfortable atmosphere
School is operated like a prison. Parents not excluded from this treatment.
School staffed by individuals who are less than happy about their job. If you expect to have a positive experience you may be let down.
Happy with my daughters teacher and the entire school.
I like DCES. The teachers are very good and very diverse in their teaching styles. They offer extra curricular activities such as plays, talent shows, running club, etc. Very active PTA, which does a phenomenal amount for the school. My criticisms are, that because we are a small town, there isn't much diversity within the community, the gifted and talented program is at another school and only goes until 3rd graded, and they do not offer Spanish at the elementary level.
School has really taken a downgrade when it comes to parental involvement.
