Maryvale Elementary School Reviews
This is a very bad school. A great deal of mediocrity and lack of expectancy reign in this establishment. The school has a French immersion program, and the majority of the students (99.5%) get promoted into middle school without having acquired the fundamentals in French grammar and with a very poor command of the language orally. The relationship between parents and the school is not favorable either. The same goes with the rapport of the current administration and the staff. The school tries to keep them (parents) off the premises so they do not witness some of the many problems that exist there.
Some of the teachers in the French Immersion do not speak the language properly and don't possess good writing skills, so they cannot teach them to the students. Great teachers are badly needed. Children often bring homework written in plainly bad French. A great number of parents that are native French speakers end up pulling their kids off the program in second and third grade. Most of them by then realize the program is weak and is a waste of time. Some middle school French teachers in Montgomery county have complained about the lack of preparation students that come from Maryvale have in order to be successful.
