Cardinal Spellman High School Reviews
My daughter thought that this was Cardinal Spellman High School for her, and from what we saw at open house, we believed she made a great choice. Unfortunately, the heavy promotion of how "spiritual" the school is, is not played out in its religion department. There is very little actual education about Catholicism in the program. It tends to be very young (sometimes uncertified) teachers "rapping" with students. The ministries, in spite of being in Brockton, where thousands of children could benefit by the application of Christian charity, are rarely if ever on the street imparting their blessings to those who cannot even walk home from school without threats of violence. If your goals are a less than average college that will take anybody off the street, then this is the high school for you. There are some teachers hired because they are the spouse of other people on staff, and like a lot of schools there seems to be favoritism towards family or alums for placement on teams (though that's for an athletic family to comment on). I just feel that your kid is a high flier, or has the potential to be one, this is not a good option. There are too many staffers who settle for little to no effort and some teachers are more interested in being pals with the students.
Cardinal Spellman High School offers an incredible atmosphere, filled with spirit. You cannot attend a school liturgy without feeling closer to God. The choir is amazing. The students have a sincere passion for Catholic Education. Spellman is teaching young minds to follow God and be passionate about their faith. Well done!
Spellman is not unlike any other high school with it's teenage drama and dilemmas. However, there is a spirit to this school that is not like any public school that I have seen recently. They also pride themselves on the "giving back" which is a life's lesson. If you choose to attend Cardinal Spellman High School and you get involved you will have cherished memories for a lifetime.
Horrible school....I learned absolutely nothing. Teachers are not qualified and I am pretty sure they are hired based on their religious beliefs. Do your child a favor and DO NOT send them here. If you do not have a family member who has donated money to the school you and your child will be marginalized academically and extracurricularly.
Last year I was a choice-student at Avon-Middle High School. My Mom helped me apply for Cardinal Spellman High School and I was so happy to be accepted!! I wasn't even put on the waiting list. In a short time I have made so many friends, that means so much to me. I also played Freshman Football which I had never had the chance before at Avon Schools. I loved Football, but now it's over. Thank you for accepting me, and thank you for the chance to meet so many friends. I look forward to the years to come. SPELLMAN SPIRIT is true as it says on my t-shirt. Once again, thank you.
