Brittany Facciolla: Recently moving to the North Shore area, hailing from Western North Carolina, O'Maley Middle School has quickly become my new school home. They opened their doors to me without hesitation and have put in the extra effort to make me feel a part of the O'Maley family. The faculty has been supportive and helpful since day one and the students have allowed me to be their leader in the classroom. I have recently been impressed with the school's initiative to move forward with a positive school environment program called S.A.I.L.S. S stands for service, A stands for acceptance, I stands for integrity, L stands for leadership, and S stands for success. This program was 100% completely created and planned by the O'Maley faculty and staff. Teachers have included individual lessons in their classrooms to help teach students about each word and what it means to be an O'Maley successful student using the S.A.I.L.S. program. It is only late October and already I have made wonderful friendships and connections throughout the staff and students at O'Maley and I enjoy waking up everyday loving my job and the school in which I am able to help students.

What is it?
The Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) are annual tests used to measure a student's mastery of the state's grade-level academic standards.
Which Grades and Subjects?
Students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 are assessed in English language arts and math, and in grades 5, 8 and 10 in science.
How is it Scored?
Students score at one of four levels: above proficient/advanced, proficient, needs improvement and warning/failing. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level. Students must pass the grade 10 MCAS in order to graduate from high school.
