Carlton Elementary School
David H. Darcy: Looks like a great place to learn. I especially like the student-to-teacher ratio. I went to the original Carlton School from early 1945 until June 1947. My 4th grade teacher was Miss Donovan, and my 5th grade teacher was Miss Tibursca. I lived right across the street on Lathrop St., so I could walk home for lunch. I often wish we had stayed in Salem...it's a really nice city in which to grow up.

What is it?
The Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) are annual tests used to measure a student's mastery of the state's grade-level academic standards.
Which Grades and Subjects?
Students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 are assessed in English language arts and math, and in grades 5, 8 and 10 in science.
How is it Scored?
Students score at one of four levels: above proficient/advanced, proficient, needs improvement and warning/failing. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level. Students must pass the grade 10 MCAS in order to graduate from high school.
