Janet Muhammad: George Washington Carver Academy in Highland Park has made a complete turnaround for the 2009-2010 school year.  The students are learning.  GWCA are Vex Robotics National Champions and went on to the World Competition.  They have a lot of great programs such as Accelerated Reader, National Junior Honor Society (chartered this year), Kidspiration/Inspiration, and Study Island.  They also have great administrators who care about the success of the children.

I thinkn this school is very poor I went to this school in three years. it was horrible. Grafitti on the walls. Messy bathrooms. You eat lunch in your classrom. The food is horrible there and the latchkey is not good at all. I would never in LIFE take my child to this school. Plus there are a LOT of wrong things in this school as well.

This school has had the potential to be a wonderful school. Unfortunately, you have brought in poor administration with are very unethical and unknowledgable about education. This poor choice has given them the power to get rid of good teachers and pushing away involved parents and smart students. As long as this admin team remains my child won't be attending GWCA.
