About This School
Alternative schools are public schools that offer nontraditional education for students whose needs cannot be met in a regular, special education, or vocational school. While alternative schools are distinct from regular, special education, and vocational schools in their teaching approach or classroom environment, they can provide similar services and/or curriculum for students. Alternative schools include schools for potential dropouts, residential treatment centers for substance abuse, schools for chronic truants, and schools for students with behavioral problems. Holt Central High School Reviews
I started going to HCH in 2002 and they say they every one who goes there are bad. I say BULL we were a family. I made more friends there, than I did in any other school. The teachers would give you the shirts right off their backs. It's just sad that they got shut down. I did shed a tear at that :((Edited by Education.com staff)
I was a student at this school years ago (class of 97) when it was in a smaller building and only had about 65 students. I gave the "challenged school" rating because the regular highschool administration dumped the "bad kids" there and left them to rot. It is a tough school but full of heart and the more you show an interest in learning a subject the more those naively devoted teachers will challenge you. However, there is such a broad spectrum of ages and grades in one area that challenging the class as a whole may instead discourage many students if they are lacking and that was not the teaching style for that "alternative" ed. It worked better for me than Holt Highschool.
