My son has attended Southfield-Lathrup since 9th grade. We have not had any incidences with fighting at this school. The school is what the parent and student bring. It seems lately we are getting more and more parents that want what they see but contribute nothing to maintain or increase the value of the school. No deposit no return!

That School is not safe my daughter have got jumped there and my daughter that school is not going to be called Southfield-Lathrup.Because I`m swing them

this is an horrible school. As a mother I do not think it is an safe enviroment for our kids. My son had a problem with a student, he ended up in the hospital. That school is filled with thugs and gang bangers, it is just not safe

I am not pleased with southfield lathrup. i have a child who attends and they are ridiculous with their fines/fees. each year they find a way to charge a student for something. i have had to pay full price for a book that some student stole from my child...you don't get a refund unless the book is returned withing 30 days...which if there is a theif stealing books why would they return the book prior to the semester ending. meanwhile if you don't get a book for the extremely high price of $65 (for a used book with writing in it) your child fails the class. I HATE THIS SCHOOL. better yet Southfield Public Schools. They care more about making a buck than teaching kids. Even after my child return all of the books they are charging him $10 to re-bind a book; that will probably get stolen and cost me another $65 to replace. he has one more year and I am trying to allowing him to finish his last year there but I am so tempted to switch schools for a quality education. i'm just afraid he'll be behind at another school since SLHS focus is on charging fees.....

I would not recommend this school. There isn't any structure in this school and it is very unorganized. At the beginning of the school year there is always a problem with registering for classes and book distribution. Often times students attend classes for weeks before receiving their books. The teachers are unprofessional and irresopnsible, making appointments and are not available for them. The police are called frequently to break up disturbances. Do not send your childrent to this school if you want them to have a quality education.
