Shaftsburg Elementary School Reviews
This school is very friendly & caring. The building is housed in a rural community, but had access to the highway. They house the All Day Care for infants/toddlers, 2 preschool classes, 2 Head Start classes, 3 Kindergarten classes, and 3 first grade classes. The teachers are in continuous communication with each other and plan coordinated activities for each grade. The building layout is all on one floor with no stairs. Daycare, Preschool and Kindergarten in one wing and First grade in the other wing. Interspersed between are classes that house specials such as Gym, Fine Arts, Healthy Life Styles, Technology, Library and speech/reading programs.
The staff is friendly and helpful. Each teacher is willing to go the extra mile to help their students learn and keep on learning the skills needed to live in today's world.
Class sizes range between 20-25, but there is still one-to-one interaction w/students. Students are always ready to learn something new. You can see it in their eager faces & body language.
The school has a playground that includes a nature trail that teachers can use in their curriculum program. Also, the school has a Walking Program that encourages students to walk around the playground perimeter to earn points toward a reward. The kids really like to walk and gain the benefit of good exercise!
I really like volunteering at this school. It feels like I'm a part of a bigger family training our "kids" to be successful in life!
