Dedicated teachers have worked through the changes that have placed more emphasis than ever before on teaching every student. As a result, students have continued to thrive and flourish. We also have a dedicated group of parents who are keeping our PTA on the move and making fantastic contributions to our school and programs. Gulfport is a great place to work and learn! As one of three original Excellence For All pilot districts, we have lead the way in Common Core implementation in the state. Out-of-state parents have lamented about the rigor of our curriculum noting that their children are being challenged to become conceptual learners and critical thinkers. This is also a testament that the district holds everyone to high expectations. As a parent, Gulfport School District (GSD) was and is an easy choice. Thanks to the teachers counselors, and administration, two of my sons earned about $60,000.00 in academic, leadership, and band scholarships. The third and youngest son has requested to stay because he loves the school, its robotics program, and band. What more could a parent expect? I recommend GSD as THE education destination on the Gulf Coast.

I love teaching at BVMS and hope to stay until retirement because I'm surrounded by colleagues who truly care about kids. The parents of our students are supportive and involved -- a key ingredient of a great school. Our “wildly important goal” of BVMS is to inspire students to become globally competitive independent learners and problem solvers in an atmosphere that is caring and compassionate, and we intend to do all that we can to make this goal a reality for our students.

BVMS is awesome! They are focused on meeting the Common Core Initiatives. The staff at the school works hard to insure all of the children get a quality education. When I visit this school the children are having fun, engaged in learning, and working hard. My child is excelling both in her education and socially at BVMS.

The teachers challenged him to do his best, but were willing to help him if he did not understand something in class. As a gifted student, it was important for him to be challenged, and BVMS was just that, a place to challenge his mind and make him think!
