Concerned Parents ... Warning
I am a concerned parent that have found that this school have many issues. How can students properly learn when a teacher stops class due to the behavior of one or a few? What principal and teacher tells their students that they don't care if your child pass or fail? How does a representative of a school says that there are no "right or wrong" solution to problems? I have since transferred my child to another elementary school in the district. From the start, I could see a significant difference. At my child's new school, the administration and teaching staff have a "true" concern for my child's education.
Gulfport is a great place to work and learn! As one of three original Excellence For All pilot districts, we have lead the way in Common Core implementation in the state. Out-of-state parents have lamented about the rigor of our curriculum noting that their children are being challenged to become conceptual learners and critical thinkers. This is also a testament that the district holds everyone to high expectations. As a parent, Gulfport School District (GSD) was and is an easy choice. Thanks to the teachers counselors, and administration, two of my sons earned about $60,000.00 in academic, leadership, and band scholarships. The third and youngest son has requested to stay because he loves the school, its robotics program, and band. What more could a parent expect? I recommend GSD as THE education destination on the Gulf Coast.
