West Elementary School
Gulfport is a great place to work and learn! As one of three original Excellence For All pilot districts, we have lead the way in Common Core implementation in the state. Out-of-state parents have lamented about the rigor of our curriculum noting that their children are being challenged to become conceptual learners and critical thinkers. This is also a testament that the district holds everyone to high expectations. As a parent, Gulfport School District (GSD) was and is an easy choice. Thanks to the teachers counselors, and administration, two of my sons earned about $60,000.00 in academic, leadership, and band scholarships. The third and youngest son has requested to stay because he loves the school, its robotics program, and band. What more could a parent expect? I recommend GSD as THE education destination on the Gulf Coast.

West Elementary School
West is an outstanding school! They are focused on meeting the Common Core Initiatives. The staff at the school works hard to insure all of the children get a quality education. When I visit this school the children are having fun, engaged in learning, and working hard.

West Elementary is a great school. The staff tries to follow the motto of the Gulfport School District.("Every Decision.What is Best For Children? Every Time.") This school has a great staff.Among this great staff are some on the best teachers :Mrs. Zanders 1st grade,Mrs. Drake 3rd grade, and Ms. Daniels 5th grade.

Mignon Perkins: I love west elementary. My son was having problems in his old school. I held him back because of it and his grades. than we moved and he started going to west. his grades went up and the other problems stoped. My son passed and is ow in 2nd. grade. I just want to say thanks to the whole school and his 1st. grade teacher Mrs. Zanders.
