Smith-Hale Junior High School

Smith hale is by far the worst school that my son has attended. the kids use profanity on the school buses. They disrespectful to the teachers. The show very little respect to each others. Some children are being bullied by the cooler or bigger children. And to make matters worse is that the teachers are beyond frustration and some are even scared to say anything to the child, therefore they allow this unacceptable behavior from theses children. My son said that if the teachers are frustrated with the class, they just wont teach, therefore aking the other children that want to learn suffer. This school did not have a PTA last year, I inquired about one this year and the administrative was unsure if they had one. I inquired about a Parent Portal that they have set up for the parents to keep track of their childs attendance records, grades , and other important information. The information that the administrative gave me was inaccurate and she could not help me with accessing this  resource.  My son has been here at Smith Hale less than one week and he has experienced very harsh, vulgar, and sometimes a violent atmosphere. I am a parent willing to be involved, as a matter of fact, I plan on starting a new pta with the parents that do care about their childrens education and safety. The only thing I fear is that me son will be a target if I go in Hard! I have a long road ahead of me to help protect my child's education and feel comfortable when he's at school. We'll see beacause I will not stop until there are changes made!!!!

This school does not own a fax machine. That pretty much sums up what to expect from this school. Do yourself a favor, move south to Grandview or east to Raytown. This school district is straight hood.
